Department Overview

  • The Palm Springs Unified School District Security Department consists of 37 Campus Safety Officers and 8 District Patrol Officers. The department provides 24-hour a day service to approximately 23,000 students and 2,000 staff members throughout the 16 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, 4 comprehensive high schools, 1 continuation high school, and an alternative education program. Covering approximately 214 square miles, it is located within the cities of: Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Sky Valley, Thousand Palms, and Rancho Mirage.  School safety personnel handle many incidents per year and work collaboratively with law enforcement agencies to keep our students and staff safe.

    The department operates under the Executive Director of Security & Disaster Preparedness. The department contracts with local law enforcement agencies and has School Resource Officers that are assigned to our comprehensive high schools, providing an invaluable resource for students and staff.

    The Campus Safety Officers are assigned to high schools and intermediate schools throughout the district. District Patrol Officers monitor, and respond to, fire and burglary alarms, various calls for assistance from all district properties, including coordinating available resources with local law enforcement dispatch centers during an incident.

    Palm Spring Unified School District’s Security Department is located at the District Administration Center at 150 District Center Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92264. 

    The District Administration Center is open Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:30am - 4:30pm.
