What is Hispanic Heritage Month?
Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15th to October 15th. The celebration begins in the middle of September to coincide with Independence Day in several Latin American countries. Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica celebrate theirs on Sept. 15th, followed by Mexico on Sept. 16th, Chile on Sept. 18th and Belize on Sept. 21st.

- Hispanic Heritage Month expanded from a week in 1968 to a month in 1988.
- Most latin american countries celebrate “dia de la Raza” on October 12th.
- Hispanic and Latino are the two most used terms to describe individuals with Spanish, Mexican, Caribbean, and Central and South American ancestry. Individuals self-identify based on the influence of multiple factors.
