High School Course Overview and Description
Classes at DLA are provided in a blended, online learning format. Students are required to participate in one hour of English and Math per week of direct instruction from highly qualified teachers in English and Math. Families may choose a Zoom or on-campus format for this instruction. Monthly on-campus benchmark tests are administered to students in order to provide high-quality intervention instruction in these courses. The bulk of their instruction is continued at home through the use of Edgenuity courses. These courses have videos of teachers teaching the concepts, interactive practice, lab assignments, journal activities and mastery quizzes. When students or parents need additional help, there are Zoom and on-campus opportunities for support.
Students 9th-12th take a range of courses in Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, Social Sciences, History, World Languages, and Electives. PE is required. All courses are accredited towards graduating with A-G requirements. Learning coaches are assigned to provide goal-setting and individual support as High School students proceed through their High School career. Our goal is to prepare our students for college and career opportunities.
