• Dear Golden Eagle Friends and Families,

I hope this letter finds you all enjoying your time off with your Eagles at home.
The start of the new school year is quickly approaching and I wanted to make
sure to take some time to welcome you all back to The Eagle’s Nest!

Our Golden Eagles will come back to campus on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024.
That is a late start day, so students will start school at 10:20am! Our bell
schedule will remain the same with school starting at 8:45am and ending at
3:40pm. On Wednesdays, school will start at 10:20am and end at 3:40pm. Any
of this information can be found on our school website
(https://www.psusd.us/dhshs), Instagram page (dhshs_eagles), and our
Facebook page (Desert Hot Springs High School). For the most up-to-date
Information, please join our social media pages!

I am also excited to share some of the new things we will be offering this year, as
    well as some updates:

    - Our Barbering Program via The Nest will start this year!
    - We are looking at starting a Hotel Management/Hospitality program
    as well!
    - Our Early Childhood Education Pathway starts this year!
    - Our athletic fields are all getting LIGHTS!
    - We have new sound systems in our theater, gym, AND stadium!
    - Come visit our NEWLY REMODELED Wellness Center!

These are only a few of the many new exciting things that you will see here at
    The Eagle’s Nest!

All parents with students attending our school this year must re-validate their
information online using ParentVUE, including our incoming 9th graders. The
validation process is available only online this year. If you need help with your
ParentVue account or additional in-person support, we can assist you M-F, 8am
    - 3pm, or call 760-288-7000.

SENIORS, just a reminder that the following items will be graduation
requirements, so start thinking about them now! Once we come back our
counseling and support staff will be ready to help you with all of them:
Completion of FAFSA, Scholarship Packet (includes letters of recommendation,
resume, your letter of interest), you will be required to apply to one (1)
college/university, and you will need to sit down with either admin or a counselor
to tell us what your plan is after high school. It may not be college, but we want
to know what your plan is so we can say your name at graduation and know that
you are set up for success once you walk across that stage.

In order to help all our Eagles be successful this year, each class will have their
own administrator to provide them a go-to person should they need anything:

    Freshmen/9th graders- Mr. Lyles
    Sophomores/10th graders- Mr. Grein
    Juniors/11th graders- Ms. Johnson
    Seniors/12th graders- Mr. Pendergraph

I know that was a lot of information, but I can’t begin to tell you how excited we all
are here to start the year off fresh and welcome our new Golden Eagles on our
campus as they become part of our DHSHS family. Our office is here to assist
you and you may also email me at otinoco@psusd.us for any general questions
    you may have.

Welcome to The Eagle’s Nest and we will continue to work together to remind
everyone in the valley how amazing our Golden Eagles truly are!

Proud to be a Golden Eagle,

    Mr. Tinoco
