The Palm Springs Unified School District Board of Education and Riverside County Committee on School Distrit Organization have approved the establishment of Trustee Areas from which Governing Board members will be elected in a By-Trustee area election process. Previously, the District used at an "at-large" system for elections. The map of Trustee Areas for the November 4, 2014 election is attached.
In a by-trustee area system of election, candidates must reside within the geographic sub-area of the District (trustee area) and be elected only by the voters of that trustee area.
As part of the state's new Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), which is a new way to fund schools, all districts are required to prepare a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), which describes how we intend to meet annual goals for pupils, with specific activities to address state and local priorities identified. PSUSD has completed its LCAP, and the Board of Education approved the plan on June 10. The final plans are attached in Spanish and English. Feedback was accepted through June 3.
