Nominees Sought for 'Champions of Excellence'

The Board of Education and Foundation of the Palm Springs Unified School District will be honoring its “Champions of Excellence,” including a Distinguished Citizen, Business Partners and Education Contributors on November 16. Nominations are being accepted for Board of Education Champions. Criteria and nomination form are attached. Deadline for nominations is Sept. 18.

Board Approves 2015-16 Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP)

As part of the state's Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), which is a new way to fund schools, all districts are required to prepare a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), which describes how we intend to meet annual goals for pupils, with specific activities to address state and local priorities identified. Palm Springs Unified's Board of Education approved the 2015-16 LCAP on June 23, written from input  from community stakeholders (including parents, teachers, students, business representatives and residents).

Workman MS Hosts E-Waste Recycling Event Sept. 26

On September, 26, James Workman Middle School will be teaming up with All Green Electronics Recycling to host an E-waste recycling collection from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school at 69300 30th Avenue, Cathedral City. The event is free and open to the public, and anyone who is interested in disposing their E-waste in a safe and secure environment. For more information, call (760) 770-8540
