What Does a School Counselor Do?
As a School Counselor, I am here to provide support for all students and help students achieve academic success, career, and social/emotional development! So that students can meet their personal and academic goals for this school year and beyond. Counselors work with staff, teachers, families and the community to support students by providing a comprehensive counseling program which includes education, intervention, and/or consultation. -
What is Social Emotional Learning?
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process through which students acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships and make responsible decisions. SEL can be a significant part of a student's overall education. Targeting the development of these skills can help prepare students for a productive future.
