Attendance & Absence Reporting
NEW ATTENDANCE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
Faster, Easier Absence Reporting via AI Texting
For the 2026–2027 school year, Palm Springs Unified School District is introducing a new, real-time attendance communication system to support you and keep your scholars in school every day.
No App Required!
There is nothing to download or install. The system communicates through direct text messages to your existing mobile phone.
What to Expect & Saving Your School's Line
The new system is now active. You will only receive a text message from this system if your student is marked absent.
The first time you receive an absence notification, it will include a brief welcome message introducing the system. Please save that number, as it will be your school's dedicated line for texting back and forth all year.

How It Works: A Simple 3-Step Process
Automatic Notification
The system instantly sends a text message to your mobile phone if a student is marked absent in the teacher’s roster.
Respond in Your Own Words
Simply reply to the text with a reason using your own words (e.g., "He has a fever," "She is anxious," or "We are having transportation issues").
Follow-Up & Support
Most replies are automatically coded to the student's record. If the system or school feels you need support, staff will review the case and reach out directly to help.
Key Features & Enrollment
- Automatic Enrollment: Families will automatically be enrolled in the new AI text messaging platform. You will receive your introductory text message the very first time your student is marked absent.
- Secure and Protected: The platform operates on a secure system within the district, meaning all information lives there and is protected just like student records.
- Reached Quickly: Parents are contacted immediately following an unverified absence, ensuring student safety and awareness much faster than traditional methods.
- Multilingual Support: The system automatically detects and supports communication in over 100 different languages, ensuring every family can stay informed.
Additional Information & Support
- Short-Term Independent Study (STIS): If you know an absence is coming, request STIS in advance so the absence doesn't count and the school can provide work for your student. Learn More >>
- Human Oversight: While the AI handles routine messaging, school staff can review any message at any time to ensure families are receiving proper care and resources.
Our AI Texting System connects you directly with your student's school in seconds. Our goal is full attendance—and when a student is out, understanding why helps us support them.
