Closed campus procedures start Monday
Dear Rio Vista Rangers,
As many of you are aware, we implemented a “closed campus” policy during the 2018-19 school year. That will continue this year starting on Monday, August 12th. We very much want to create a welcoming and caring environment for our students and parents, yet we also understand that our number one priority is keeping our students safe. Beginning Monday, August 12th, when the bell rings, we will close the gates to comply with the Palm Springs Unified School District policy for all school sites to implement closed campus procedures.
The first three days of every school year just like this year, will be an open campus for parents to walk students to their classrooms and help them become acquainted with their new teachers.
On Monday, August 12th, only students will be allowed to enter the school gates at 7:10am. We will have school personnel at all gates available for students to enter campus. They will be directing parents and visitors to the office. All parents and other visitors will be allowed on campus if they have a scheduled appointment or have a pressing matter that needs immediate attention. As always, all families must check in at the office before accessing the Rio Vista campus.
- Kindergarten and TK students will enter the campus through the tan gate adjacent
to the kindergarten playground in front of the school.
- 1st -5th grade students can enter the campus through the front gate next to the office and the back gate next to the playground.
- K1 & K2 Kindergarten students will be dismissed through the outside doors facing
the parking lot. TK, K3 & K4 will be dismissed at the tan gate adjacent to the
- 1st-5th grade students will dismissed in front of the school unless arrangements are made with the classroom teacher or office personnel for students to be dismissed at the back gate.
