Desert Learning Academy is a School of Choice that provides an alternative for parents who do not wish to send their children to the assigned local public schools. When students have completed their academic career and entered adult life, they’ll be judged not by performance on basic skills tests—but rather, by the quality of their work and the quality of their character. DLA works to promote the student as an indepentant learner.
Dessert Learning Academy offers a hybrid approach to learning, providing students with flexibility in scheduling so that they can focus on work. Online courses require students to complete licensed coursework and get help from their teacher during weekly appointments. In addition to their weekly appointment, students may work on their courses at the DLA campus for as much or as little time as they choose, although teachers may encourage students who need extra help to spend more time on campus and utilize tutoring support by subject-specific teachers. All students come to the campus for state- and district-required assessments. There is also an opportunity for dual enrollment credit through College of the Desert.
MASTER AGREEMENT Every Student must complete the Master Agreement and have it signed by a parent or guardian.
