Desert Learning Academy is a School of Choice that provides an alternative for parents who do not wish to send their children to the assigned local public schools. Desert Learning Academy offers a hybrid approach to learning, providing students with flexibility in scheduling so that they can focus on work. Online courses require students to complete licensed coursework and get help from their teacher during weekly appointments. In addition to their weekly appointment, students may work on their courses at the DLA campus for as much or as little time as they choose, although teachers may encourage students who need extra help to spend more time on campus and utilize tutoring support by subject-specific teachers. All students come to the campus for state- and district-required assessments. There is also an opportunity for dual enrollment credit through College of the Desert.

    The enrollment process entails:

    1. An orientation of DLA and program of choice (Elementary, Middle, or High School)

    2. Enrollment paperwork

    3. Master Agreement

    4. Then the student receives their assigned classess and materials.

1.) Orientation: The orientation differs depending on the program of choice for Elementary, Middle, and High School.

2.) Enrollment Paperwork: Paperwork packet differs if first time enrolling with PSUSD or currently attending the District.

3.) Master Agreement: Every student must complete the Master agreement (an independent study contract) and have it signed by a parent or guardian.

4.) Start Day: Once everything is completed, students receive their classes, start their first day, and receive their materials.
