AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college readiness system for elementary through postsecondary that is designed to increase schoolwide learning and performance. The AVID College Readiness System (ACRS) accelerates student learning, uses research based methods of effective instruction, provides meaningful and motivational professional learning, and acts as a catalyst for systemic reform and change. - CAASPP/SBAC Scores
- GPA (2.0-3.5)
- Behavior Records
- Work Ethic

AVID TUTORSPainted Hills is hiring college students who want to serve as paid tutors and role models for AVID students in middle school. These tutors will serve 6th – 8th graders.
Job description: Tutors will be trained to tutor the AVID way. They will work with small groups of middle school students under the supervision of a teacher in an AVID classroom during the school day. Tutors serve as guides and facilitators of students’ learning through questioning, writing, thinking, and discussing. This year’s tutoring schedule is still being finalized.
Qualifications: Successful college students bring a sufficient level of expertise to the tutoring positions. This expertise, along with tutor training, equips the college students to begin working in the AVID classrooms. The best qualification is that you care about making a difference in the lives of students!
Advancement Via Individual Determination
AVID is a program that targets potential college students who are not enrolled in advanced classes.
AVID classes help to prepare students for college by teaching them study and organizational skills. Students enrolled in AVID are given academic support through tutors.
