Curriculum and Instruction
Guiding the learning journey for every student in PSUSD.
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction is dedicated to providing purposeful and consistent services across all K−12 grade levels to ensure the highest quality educational experience for every PSUSD student.
We achieve this by working closely with school sites and staff to focus on five core areas:
-
Standards Alignment & Curriculum: We design, evaluate, and implement rigorous curriculum that aligns with state and federal educational standards. This includes collaborative work on Curriculum Mapping to create cohesive, progressive learning scopes and sequences, and selecting high-quality, appropriate textbooks.
-
Instructional Support & Professional Development: We provide research-based instructional strategies and meaningful learning opportunities. This includes offering Professional Development through targeted workshops and training sessions to enhance teachers' instructional techniques, subject knowledge, and classroom management skills.
-
Assessment & Data Analysis: We are involved in the design and implementation of various assessments to measure student academic progress. We analyze this assessment data to identify areas for improvement and inform instructional decisions, ensuring a continuous cycle of growth.
-
Program Oversight: We ensure all students receive relevant and enriching educational experiences, including focused support for foundational skills at the elementary level and advanced pathways for college and career readiness at the secondary level.
-
Collaboration: We foster strong partnerships with school administrators, teachers, parents, and community members to ensure the curriculum meets the diverse needs of our entire population and equips all students with the knowledge and skills needed for success.
