Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID)

What is AVID?

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a global nonprofit organization that operates with one guiding principle: Hold students accountable to the highest standards, provide academic and social support, and they will rise to the challenge. AVID’s kindergarten through higher education system brings research-based curriculum and strategies to students each day that develop critical thinking, literacy, and math skills across all content areas.

AVID in Palm Springs Unified School District

In the PSUSD, AVID programs are offered at all four of our comprehensive high schools: Cathedral City High School, Desert Hot Springs High School, Palm Springs  High School and Rancho Mirage High School.

At the middle school level, Nellie N. Coffman Middle School offers the AVID Program and AVID Excel Program that caters to the needs of English Language Learners.
