District Patrol Division
The Palm Springs Unified School District Patrol Division deploys patrol officers in six geographical areas within the Cities of Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Sky Valley, and Thousand Palms protecting; students, staff, and assets at its 28 school and 3 District facility/office buildings. Patrol officers provide 24-hour, seven day a week coverage to leverage our protective uniformed presence of Patrol Officers. As a security department within the education community, the Palm Springs Unified School District Security Department provides unique training to patrol personnel to effectively deliver responsive services in a school environment.
Within a deep-rooted Community Oriented Policing framework, combined with responsive, pro-active traditional efforts, patrol officers are vital service providers for protecting life and property within the Palm Springs Unified School District community. Patrol officers work closely with members of local law enforcement agencies, community members, and businesses to monitor student activity on and off campus. Patrol officers are recognized for their effectiveness in working collaboratively to resolve calls for service and developing substantive intelligence for follow-up case resolution.
Palm Springs Unified School District Patrol Officers also conduct public relations programs and functions in the community such as bullying presentations, bicycle safety programs, alcohol /drug prevention outreach and gang resistance through the Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership (GRIP) program.
