Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to welcome your child to Katherine Finchy for the 2023-2024 school year.  Our teachers and support staff are eager to support students and families.  Open and consistent communication is key.  We have transitioned to electronic communication methods and will send home very few flyers in backpacks. This allows you to access the information at your convenience and eliminates papers getting lost between school and home. 

    Our electronic communication systems are:

ParentSquare All schools in PSUSD are transitioning to ParentSquare for school and district communication.  ParentSquare is replacing Class Dojo and is used for communication between school to home and home to school.  Please consider downloading the ParentSquare app.  

ParentVue: Necessary for accessing report cards, progress reports, test scores, and student’s teacher information. ParentVue can also be used for reporting absences.  Come in or call the office if you need your activation code.

      Our school hours are 7:45 - 2:35 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Wednesday’s hours are 7:45 – 12:10. Supervision does not begin until 7:15. At 7:20, the single gate near the MPR/ office will be opened for students to eat breakfast (free for all students).  Please do not have your child arrive before 7:15 as there will be no adults to watch your child. Please help us keep your children safe.  Morning drop-off is along the yellow curb in front of the school. The yellow curb is for drop-off only. Please pull up as close to the office as possible and do not leave your car when stopped along the yellow curb. Parents who want to walk their child to the gate must park in a parking space.  Do not let your child cross the street without an adult. 

     To ensure your child’s safety, only employees are allowed on campus after the first day of school.  Parents will say good-bye to their students in the car or at the gate by the MPR.  If you need to see your child’s teacher, you may make an appointment in the office. 

      If you would like to volunteer, please complete the volunteer application form on our website. 

      Lastly, I want to be sure that our parents are aware of the many services and resources that are available to the students and families at Katherine Finchy. We have bilingual office staff that are ready to assist families.  We have a school counselor, a school psychologist, and a full-time medical assistant– all ready to respond to each family’s needs.  Please reach out to them, Mrs. Lee, or myself (by contacting the office) and let us know how we can partner with you to meet your child’s and your family’s needs.

     Estamos emocionados de darle la bienvenida a su hijo a Katherine Finchy para el año escolar 2023-2024. Nuestros maestros y personal de apoyo están ansiosos por apoyar a los estudiantes y las familias. La comunicación abierta y consistente es clave. Hemos hecho la transición a métodos de comunicación electrónica y enviaremos a casa muy pocos volantes en mochilas. Esto le permite acceder a la información a su conveniencia y elimina la pérdida de papeles entre la escuela y el hogar.

     Nuestros sistemas de comunicación electrónica son:

ParentSquare: Todas las escuelas del PSUSD están haciendo la transición a ParentSquare para la comunicación entre la escuela y el distrito. ParentSquare reemplaza a Class Dojo y se utiliza para la comunicación entre la escuela y el hogar y entre el hogar y la escuela. Considere descargar la aplicación ParentSquare.

     Nuestro horario escolar es de 7:45 a 2:35 los lunes, martes, jueves y viernes. El horario del miércoles es de 7:45 a 12:10. La supervisión no comienza hasta las 7:15. A las 7:20, se abrirá la puerta única cerca de la oficina / MPR para que los estudiantes desayunen (gratis para todos los estudiantes). No haga que su hijo llegue antes de las 7:15 ya que no habrá adultos para cuidar a su hijo. Por favor, ayúdenos a mantener seguros a sus hijos. La entrega de la mañana es a lo largo de la acera amarilla frente a la escuela. El bordillo amarillo es solo para dejar pasajeros. Deténgase lo más cerca posible de la oficina y no deje su automóvil cuando se detenga junto a la acera amarilla. Los padres que quieran acompañar a su hijo a la puerta deben estacionar en un espacio de estacionamiento. No dejes que tu hijo cruce la calle sin un adulto.     

     Para garantizar la seguridad de su hijo, solo se permiten empleados en el campus después del primer día de clases. Los padres se despedirán de sus alumnos en el automóvil o en la puerta del MPR. Si necesita ver al maestro de su hijo, puede hacer una cita en la oficina.

     Por último, quiero asegurarme de que nuestros padres estén al tanto de los muchos servicios y recursos que están disponibles para los estudiantes y las familias de Katherine Finchy. Tenemos personal de oficina bilingüe que está listo para ayudar a las familias. Contamos con un consejero escolar, un psicólogo escolar y un asistente médico de tiempo completo, todos listos para responder a las necesidades de cada familia. Comuníquese con ellos, la Sra. Lee o conmigo mismo (comunicándose con la oficina) y háganos saber cómo podemos asociarnos con usted para satisfacer las necesidades de su hijo y su familia.
