Palm Springs Virtual School offers online courses as credit recovery, and as a course not offered by their current school of attendance or district. The learning management system uses a variety of techniques to support every learner. This includes online discussion boards, personal email communication with peers and/or the teacher, and face to face tutoring. Palm Springs Virtual School piloted two successful programs. The first program was a hybrid Biology course where students attended regularly scheduled class and completed all assignments online. The second course was an Algebra I class offered during the summer. Students completed all assignments online attending class only when they needed extra support or to take their written chapter tests. Palm Springs Unified plans to offer rigorous AP courses in the future enriching the learning experience of each enrollee.
