District Level Groups

District Advisory Committee (DAC)
The committee, which is a volunteer group required by State law, includes one parent representative from each school that has a School Advisory Committee (SAC) committee. However, the DAC representative is not required to be part of the SAC committee. It is recommended that each DAC representative report at their monthly School Site Council meetings. The DAC provides advice, assistance and advisory recommendations to the administration and the Board of Education for the continuing improvement of the general education of students participating in a State Compensatory Education or Title I program.
(Dates are: 11/17/2011 and 04/11/2012 at 6:00pm at the district office)


District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)
The committee, which is a volunteer group required by State law, includes one parent representative from each school that has an ELAC committee. However, the DELAC representative is not required to be part of the ELAC committee. The DELAC provides advice, assistance and advisory recommendations to the administration and the Board of Education for the continuing improvement of the general education of English-language learners.
(Dates are: 10/20/2011, 11/17/2011, 1/19/2012, 2/23/2012 (cancelled due to district science fair), 3/22/2012, and 4/19/2012 at 6:30pm at the district office)

The Pinnacle Fund
The Pinnacle Fund is The Foundation for Palm Springs Unified School District, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, is comprised of committed volunteer leaders from the six desert cities served by the District:  Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage and Thousand Palms.

School Level Groups

PTA/Booster Clubs
The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) or school Booster Club is a group of parents at a school site joined together by choice. The group provides support for the students' special interest activities both in direct assistance and in fundraisers for activities. Contact your school site office for more information or visit http://www.capta.org/ to see how you can get involved with the California PTA.

School Site Council (SSC)
The Council, which is a volunteer group required by State law for schools that receive supplemental School Improvement funding, is comprised of at least half parents and half staff members at a school site. However, students are included at the junior high/middle school level. (Each PSUSD School has a School Site Council.) The SSC participates in the School Improvement Program at the school site so that they can respond to the educational, personal and career needs of every student. They do this by assessing their needs, developing a school plan to meet those needs and establishing an annual budget that is directly connected with the activities in the plan.

English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)
The committee, which is a volunteer group required by State law, is comprised of parents and staff members at a school that has 21 or more English-language learners. The ELAC committee provides advice, assistance and advisory recommendations to the principal and the school staff for the continuing improvement of the general education of English-language learners.

Grupos a Nivel Distrito

Comité Consultor del Distrito (DAC)
Este comité es un grupo voluntario requerido por ley estatal.  Este esta compuesto por un padre representante de cada escuela que tenga un Comité Consultor Escolar (SAC).  Sin embargo,  no es requisito ser miembro de SAC para representar su escuela en DAC.  Se recomienda que el representante de DAC reporte mensualmente en las reuniones de Consejo Directivo Escolar.  El Comité Consultor del Distrito proporciona consejos, asistencia y recomendaciones de asesoría para la administración y para la Mesa Directiva para continuos avances en rendimiento estudiantil de la educación general de quienes participan en Educación Compensatoria del Estado o quienes participan en el programa de Titulo I.  (Las fechas son el 17/nov/2011 y 11/abr/2012 a las 6:00pm en la oficina del distrito)


Comité Consultor para Aprendices de Inglés del Distrito (DELAC)
Este comité es un grupo voluntario requerido por ley estatal.  Este lo compone un padre representante de cada escuela del distrito que tenga un comité de ELAC aunque no es obligatorio ser parte de ELAC para representar a su escuela en DELAC.  DELAC proporciona consejos, asistencia  y recomendaciones a la administración  y a la Mesa Directiva para continuos avances en rendimiento estudiantil de la educación general de Aprendices del Inglés.

El Fondo “Pinacle”
El Fondo Pinacle es una fundación para el Distrito escolar de Palm Springs sin fines de lucro 501(c) 3.  Este esta compuesto por voluntarios  comprometidos con rasgos de liderazgo quienes representan a seis distintas ciudades del desierto pertinentes al distrito:  Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage y Thousand Palms.

Grupos a Nivel Escuela
 
PTA (Asociación de Padres/Maestros)/Club ‘Booster’
La Asociación de Padres/Maestros (PTA) ó el Club ‘Booster” es en grupo de padres de una escuela que se unen por voluntad propia.  El grupo proporciona apoyo para actividades de alto interés estudiantil ya sea en asistencia directa ó en recaudación de fondos.  Contacte a su oficina escolar para obtener más información ó visite la página web http://www.capta.org para participar con el PTA de California.
 
 
Consejo Directivo Escolar (SSC)
Este consejo es un grupo voluntario requerido por ley estatal para cada escuela que reciba fondos supleméntales para Mejoramientos Escolares (School Improvement Program).  Mínimo, este requiere participación de mitad padres de familias y mitad maestros. Diferente a otros grupos, este puede incluir estudiantes de nivel secundario.  (Cada escuela PSUSD tiene un Consejo Directivo Escolar (SSC).)
El SSC participa en el programa de Mejoramiento Escolar (School Improvement Program) en la misma escuela para poder mejor responder a las necesidades educativas, personales, y profesionales de cada estudiante.  Para realizar esto, primero se evalúa las necesidades para después desarrollar un plan que pueda satisfacer esas necesidades.  También establece un presupuesto anual que esta directamente vinculado con las actividades en el plan.


Comité Consultor para Aprendices de Inglés (ELAC)
Este comité también es voluntario y requerido por ley estatal.  Este lo componen padres y maestros en una escuela donde estén matriculados 21 ó más aprendices del Ingles.  El Comité de ELAC provee consejos, asistencia y recomendaciones al director de la escuela y a los maestros para avances en rendimiento estudiantil para la educación general de todos los aprendices de Inglés.
